Where Visionaries Steal the Spotlight
Among the 17 categories lighting up this year’s Berlin Music Video Awards, two standouts are generating serious buzz: Best Art Director and Best Performer. These categories don’t just honour faces or frames, they celebrate the creative vision and performance power that transform music videos into unforgettable and emotionally charged art.
Best Art Director: Worlds Within Minutes
In the Best Art Director category, the competition is fierce, with some major names in the spotlight. Among the nominees is Tate McRae with Sports Car, a video that blends sleek aesthetics with raw emotion, much like Tate herself, who’s taken the internet by storm with her dynamic presence and chart-topping tracks. Also in the running is Jade with Angel of My Dreams, marking a bold solo chapter from one of the most celebrated voices in modern pop, previously part of one of the biggest girl groups in the world Little Mix. But as always at the BMVA, fame alone doesn't define the winner. Last year’s results are proof, MAASTOR took home the Best Art Director award for Self Control, edging out mainstream giants like Megan Thee Stallion.
This is a category that rewards vision, innovation, and the ability to build entire worlds within a few minutes of screen time.
Best Performer: Emotion in Motion
Shifting the focus to the Best Performer category, we celebrate the artists who live the story on screen. These are the faces that don’t just appear in a video; they embody it, pouring emotion, energy, and presence into every frame. Whether it’s a subtle look, an explosive dance, or a raw, vulnerable moment, their performances are often what make a music video unforgettable.
Among this year’s standout nominees in the Best Performer category are performances that truly push the emotional and artistic boundaries of the medium. Zamilska feat. Huskie - Odyssey delivers a haunting and visceral visual journey, driven by raw, embodied intensity. Aufgang - Hummus offers a cinematic experience where movement and expression blur the lines between performer and atmosphere. In Ezra Collective’s God Gave Me Feet For Dancing (ft. Yazmin Lacey), the joy is palpable, every step and gesture radiates rhythm and soul.
This category honours those who turn visuals into visceral experiences, the heartbeat of the story, the ones you remember long after the music fades.

All Eyes on the Live Experience
At the heart of the Berlin Music Video Awards 2025 lies the live experience- raw, loud, and unfiltered. This year’s performances promise everything from experimental stagecraft to pulse-pushing DJ sets that will keep the crowd moving well into the early hours. Whether it’s genre-breaking sound, bold visuals, or pure presence, these artists and DJs aren’t here to play it safe, they’re here to set it off.
Setting the tone behind the decks are HelloTrip, Lawya, and Chris Craft - DJs known for their distinct approaches, from fractured rhythms to sonic storytelling and playful misdirection. They are just a few of many DJs at the event.
On stage, expect a mix of bold and intimate performances: Dogshow brings theatrical chaos, Joanne Bird delivers quiet intensity, and Ballet Sur_Real blurs the line between dance and film. Visual artist Lamia creates hypnotic, symbol-rich pieces like Cobra, while Louis Cardozo and Jedy Deady prove that simplicity can hit just as hard. Rounding it out, Ice Zaddy crashes image, sound, and attitude into a genre-defying experience.
BMVA 2024 highlights
More Than a Festival, It’s a Movement
While the Berlin Music Video Awards is known for its bold performances and standout visuals, it’s the team behind the scenes that helps bring every detail to life. Daniela Moreno, a key member of the editing and graphic design team, shares: “The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of the BMVA is art! The freedom to be creative, to be yourself, a space to celebrate all the work that goes into making a music video, and everything that makes a festival like this possible. The team itself has such a good vibe, always supporting each other and making the process lighter and more inspiring. “I’m really grateful to be part of it, and excited for what’s still to come.”
And this is just the beginning. With more artists, secret guests, and spontaneous moments still under wraps, the Berlin Music Video Awards 2025 is shaping up to be more than an event.
Get ready to step into a world where music, visuals, and fearless creativity collide.
